I loved Forth. Back in the day my company employed Forth to develop more than 100 educational and consumer software products for major publishers.
When the web demanded new ways of doing things I naively adopted ColdFusion. Hated it. But developed a conference management application that kept me tied to CF for the better part of a decade.
Freed of the CF tar baby, I spent a year learning Python. Liked it. Developed an application to support my web comic using the Kerrigell framework. You can see it at http://ayatakeo.com.
Confronted serious questions about scalability. Had some security problems. Played with Django. Then, discovered Erlang.
Erlang looks like the perfect tool for developing some of the applications rattling around in my head.
Django would be the safe way to go. But as a Forth lover I’m inevitably drawn to the road less traveled by.
